Edward Golola has been part of the Kitende set up for over 15 years, nurturing most of if not all the young players who later got promoted to the Vipers squad.
He won three league titles at Vipers, one as head coach and the rest as an assistant coach but it is his affiliation to the club's feeder side, St. Mary's Kitende that stands out.
Edward Golola has been part of the Kitende set up for over 15 years, nurturing most of if not all the young players who later got promoted to the Vipers squad.
Players like Farouk Miya, James Alitho, Ismael Watenga, Yunus Sentamu to mention but a few.
Golola says Vipers, who are playing in the group stages of the CAF Champions League can still make it out of the group stages.
"Vipers can still make it out of the group but the players need to die a little more for the club,” he told Pulse Sports.
“They need to give 100% because sometimes in such situations, that extra fight is the difference.”
The venoms have managed a point from a possible six in the two games they've played so far.
Asked if the new Vipers head coach Beto Bianchi has settled in well, Golola stressed that Spanish born Brazilian is doing just ok.
"The coach and his team have done well considering the time he has had with the team but it will take a bit of more time and we shall support him without a doubt," he stressed.
The 52 year old was an assistant coach to Michael Nam Ouma in 2019 when Vipers were on the brink of qualifying for the CAF Confederations Cup group stages but unfortunately lost to Tunisian side CS CS Sfaxien 3-0 on aggregate.
Vipers will next face Simba SC on 25th February at the St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende before making the trip to Dar-Es-Salaam in return leg on 7th March 2023.
