Ahead of the forthcoming season, FUFA Big League side Police FC have unveiled their coaching staff, with Simon Peter Mugerwa as the new head coach.

Mugerwa, who is vastly experienced, will be assisted by Uganda Cranes' legendary left-back Nestroy Kizito and Robert Sekweyama.

Ben Lwanga Kalama has been appointed the goalkeeper coach, while Fazil Ibrahim has been retained as the fitness coach.

Meanwhile, Mugerwa, a CAF B licensed coach, comes in as a direct replacement for Angelo Lonyesi, who was asked to step aside over a month back.

The latter was in charge of the Police side that reached the 2022/23 Uganda Cup final before eventually narrowly losing 1-0 to winners Vipers SC.

Mugerwa has, on the other hand, previously worked as an assistant coach at SC Villa and head coach at Soltilo Bright Stars FC in the Uganda Premier League.

Currently, the head coach at Buddu Ssaza, Mugerwa has previously won two Masaza Cup titles with Bulemeezi in 2019 and most recently with Busiro in 2022.

Mugerwa has also had managerial stints in schools, with previous roles at Kakungulu Memorial and Buddo Secondary School.

Meanwhile, in their quest for topflight football, Police will get off their Big League business against Young Elephants FC on September 25 at Kavumba.
