The situation has forced the CAF and Local Organising Committees of the tournament to shift the remaining fixtures lined up to be played at the Alexandria Stadium to Haras El Hodoud Stadium located in the same city of Alexandria.
The adverse weather conditions have been a discussion before and during the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations going on in Egypt.
The results have been evident as the pitch condition at the Alexandria stadium deteriorated just after one round of group C matches.
The situation has forced the CAF and Local Organising Committees of the tournament to shift the remaining fixtures lined up to be played at the Alexandria Stadium to Haras El Hodoud Stadium located in the same city of Alexandria.
“The CAF Organising Committee of the TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2023 and the Local Organising Committee met to discuss the state of the pitch at the Alexandria Stadium following the opening matches played there,” CAF announced.

“Following deliberations and concerns on the state of the playing surface, the Organising Committee together with the LOC resolved to move the remaining matches from Alexandria Stadium to nearby Haras El Hodoud Stadium also in Alexandria,” the communication continued.
The development means that the second round matches of Group C pitting Tunisia and Benin and Zambia versus Gambia were scheduled for Friday will be played at the new venue.
The 20,000-seater Alexandria stadium was set to host five Group C games and one quarterfinal match.
Gambia lead the group with three points while Zambia and Benin follow with one each after sharing spoils on the opening day.
