For Taddeo Lwanga, currently affiliated with the Rwandan side APR FC, the pain of falling short in the quest for the CAF Champions League group stages remains palpable after his team’s 6-1 defeat to the well-funded Pyramids FC of Egypt.

Participating in CAF interclub competitions is a cherished aspiration for every player, especially those with prior experience in the tournament.

For Taddeo Lwanga, currently affiliated with the Rwandan side APR FC, the pain of falling short in the quest for the CAF Champions League group stages remains palpable after his team’s 6-1 defeat to the well-funded Pyramids FC of Egypt.

“Keep your head up, no matter what,” Lwanga tweeted. When asked for further insight, he added, “The team gave their all in Cairo, but it wasn’t meant to be. However, we must press forward; there’s much more to achieve.”

“It’s a tough blow, but that’s the nature of football. We must maintain a positive outlook because it’s the only way to move ahead. As a team, we still have significant goals for this season,” Lwanga told Pusle Sports.

Lwanga, one of the foreign signings by the Lions after the removal of a 10-year ban on non-Rwandan players, joined the squad in August and has appeared in nearly every league game except one.

APR FC currently holds the third spot with seven points in the Rwanda Premier League and is set to face Musanze FC at home on Friday.

The ‘Engineer’ has previously plied his trade for local giants Express FC, SC Villa, and Vipers before embarking on his first professional journey with Tanta FC in Egypt. Later, he made a move to Tanzanian giants Simba.

His two-year tenure with Msimbzi yielded a league title, a domestic cup, and the charity shield, with Lwanga notably scoring the winning goal in the 2019 Azam Sports Federation Cup final against Simba’s arch-rivals, Young Africans.

Lwanga also had a stint with Djibouti’s well-backed Arta Solar FC, sharing the pitch with former Arsenal star Alexander Song and Ivory Coast forward Salomon Kalou.
