Liverpool suffer another injury blow as they confirm that Stefan Bajcetic will not play again until next season
Liverpool’s teenage midfield sensation Stefan Bajcetic has revealed that he will miss the rest of the season after suffering an injury before the UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg against Real Madrid.
Bajcetic missed Liverpool’s trip to the Bernabeu through injury
Bajcetic was a surprise omission from Liverpool’s squad to face Real Madrid at the Bernabeu since he had become a mainstay in the Liverpool midfield since his breakthrough this season, and coach Jurgen Klopp explained that he had been injured but did not tell to what extent.
Bajcetic however, took to Instagram after the UCL loss to explain that he suffered an adductor muscle injury that has now ruled him out for the rest of the season.
Bajcetic gives injury update
He posted an update to his followers on the social media platform, saying, "Unfortunately, I’ve picked up an injury that will keep me out until the end of the season.
“It’s very sad to say goodbye to this amazing season for me, but I understand this is part of football and will only make me stronger physically and mentally.”
Liverpool also corroborated his update with a post offering him support on Twitter.
The 18-year-old midfielder also thanked the Liverpool supporters for their support during the season and promised to return to his best.
“I would also like to say thank you to you Reds for all the support through the season, and I assure you I will do my best to be back stronger than ever,” Bajcetic concluded.
Liverpool will miss the services of the Serbian midfielder who has helped to cover up for the absences of more senior players like Thiago Alcantara, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, and Naby Keita who have also been plagued with injuries.
