There were movements at the bottom of the table as well, with Cadiz climbing up to 16th with a victory over Rayo Vallecano, but Valencia's win could not pull them out of the doldrums, as they remained in the relegation places.
This weekend, LaLiga teams will be in action again as they continue to fight towards their season goals.
Real Betis vs Real Madrid
This is the highest-ranked fixture this gameweek in terms of league standings, as 5th-place Real Betis hosts 2nd-place Real Madrid.
Betis have not had a lot of joy in this fixture in LaLiga, especially when playing at home. They have failed to beat Real Madrid in their last five attempts in LaLiga, and have lost to Los Blancos in their last six games against them at the Benito Villamarin.

However, Real Madrid's recent away form has not been stellar, as they have alternated between wins and losses in their last seven games on the road, winning four and losing three. Betis are also in good form; by winning their last three games, they would push for their first four consecutive wins in all competitions since 2021.
Manuel Pellegrini will have to set his side up against the defending champions without two of his best players in Nabil Fekir and Sergio Canales, while Real Madrid will be without Modric due to yellow card accumulation and the duo of Ferland Mendy and David Alaba due to injury.
Atletico Madrid vs Sevilla
Despite Sevilla's lowly position on the league table and poor season form, this is still one of the biggest fixtures in the Spanish football calendar.
Atletico Madrid have not lost any of the last 13 games in which they hosted Sevilla, winning six and drawing seven; however, in recent times, they have struggled against Sevilla, drawing three of their last four home games. They have also won only one of their last four games against Sevilla, home or away, losing two and drawing one.
However, Sevilla are having an uncharacteristically poor season, at least in recent history. They are currently in the relegation battle, and only Elche (1) and Getafe (5) have won fewer games than the six Sevilla have won this season.
Angel Correa and Manuel Molina are currently serving suspensions and will be unavailable to be called upon by Diego Simeone alongside Reinildo Isnard Mandava, Rodrigo de Paul, and Sergio Reguilon, who are sidelined due to injury.
Sevilla will be unable to count on Fernando, who is currently suspended, alongside a number of other long-term absentees, including Jesus Corona and Papu Gomez.
Barcelona vs Valencia
Barcelona will look to get back to winning ways in LaLiga, buoyed by a midweek Clasico win against a Valencia side that picked up their first win after six successive defeats against high-flying Real Sociedad.
Barcelona have dominated this fixture in recent times, winning their last four games against Valencia in the league. The Blaugrana have also not suffered a defeat against Valencia in league games played at Camp Nou since 2016, winning four times and drawing twice since then.

Valencia will look to pick up their first successive victories in the competition for the first time in nearly a year after beating La Reale last week. They last picked up back-to-back wins in LaLiga in March 2020.
Barcelona will have to get the job done without the injured Ousmane Dembele, Pedri, Robert Lewandowski, and the suspended Gavi.
