Three players recognised as part of the best Nigerian players last season in the PulseSports 30 rankings have been named in the Super Eagles team to face Sao Tome and Principe

Three players who were listed in PulseSports’ top 30 Nigerian players from last season have been rewarded for their fine form by being included in the Super Eagles team for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers.

Boniface and Orban set for Super Eagles debut

Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface is top of the newcomers list after a sensational start to life in Germany that has seen him score four goals and provide two assists in his first three Bundesliga games.

The former Royal USG striker finished 8th in the recently published PulseSports30 rankings and adds to Nigeria’s exciting crop of strikers alongside other top names like Napoli’s Victor Osimhen

Gent sensation Gift Orban, who finished in the top five of the Pulse 30 index was also called up after a superb start to the season in Belgium, with six goals in nine games across the Belgian Pro League and UEFA Europa Conference League playoffs.

Bruno Onyemaechi called up to Super Eagles team

Finally, Boavista defender Bruno Onyemaechi, was also included in the Super Eagles team to execute the final AFCON qualifiers in September.

With Nigeria already booking their place in the 2023 AFCON, there could scarcely be a better time to tinker with the team and introduce some new faces to the Super Eagles set up.

Given the quality of players picked for the September international break, it is fair to say that those in charge of squad selection for the Super Eagles have done their homework, including getting familiar with the Pulse30 rankings of the best Nigerian players currently active.
