Gusii shot to the summit of the embryonic table following the emphatic opening win.

Rainbow FC hit the ground running in the National Super League (NSL) following a 1-0 win over Darajani Gogo FC while Gusii FC kicked off their season with a resounding 5-1 win over Vihiga Bullets.

Rainbow FC 1-0 Darajani Gogo

Following their promotion from the Division One, Rainbow FC got their life in the NSL off to the perfect start after edging Darajani Gogo 1-0.

The lone goal of the game was scored in the opening half courtesy of Tyron Kariuki as Rainbow held on to the lead for the rest of the match to pick up three vital points.

Gusii FC 5-1 Vihiga Bullets

The woeful run of Vihiga Bullets show no signs of abating after their relegation from the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) as they were pummeled 5-1 by Gusii FC.

It only took 26 minutes for Gusii to break the deadlock which came courtesy of Cyrus Oucho and they went on to double their lead three minutes later, this time through Abel Nyanteng'a.

Gusii did not take their foot off the gas in the opening half as they grabbed their third when Vicent Wanga struck five minutes before the half time break.

Bullets’ nightmare first half extended at the stroke of the halftime mark when they were awarded a penalty but they could not capitalize on the chance as the spotkick was saved.

Mathew Tegisi took little time to introduce himself to the crowd after coming on after the break as he scored with his first touch in the 48th minute.

Bullets got their consolation goal in the 76th minute through Juma John but Gusii restored their four goal cushion two minutes later through Adelbert Mogendi to complete the rout.

MCF 2-2 Assad

Mully Children’s Family FC salvaged a point in stoppage time to settled for a 2-2 draw against SS Assad.

Assad opened the scoring a minute after the half hour mark through Abdallah Mdeka but MCF equalized in five minutes from the time break through Norman Werunga.

Elmond Kasaya restored Assad’s lead in the 71st minute and just when they thought they were headed for a victory, MCF levelled deep into stoppage time courtesy of Anaba Mohamed.

Dimba Patriots 2-3 Naivas

Elsewhere at the Wolves Den, Naivas FC emerged 2-3 winners over Dimba Patriots in an entertaining five-goal thriller.

Dimba Patriots earned a place in the NSL after buying Mwatate United’s slot in the league and found the going tough in their first game.

Naivas’s goals came courtesy of a brace from Vincent Likare while Brian Ouru was also on the scoresheet to claim the three points for the Shoppers.

Dimba Patriots set up a tense finale after Danis Omondi and Tindo Joseph scored late in the game but Naivas held on for the victory.

Vihiga United 1-2 Kajiado FC

It was a sorry day for the two Vihiga clubs in the NSL as United suffered a 1-2 loss at the hands of visiting Kajiado FC.

Kajiado’s goals came courtesy of Ayubu Twaha and Llotsiro Brian in the opening half while Kaduka Godfrey got the consolation goal for Vihiga.
