It was a one-sided affair in the Enugu State FA Cup final that saw Rangers and Ingas produce six goals, two stunning free kicks, and a brace.
NPFL giant Rangers International have been crowned champions of the Enugu State FA Cup after a stunning six-goal thriller in the final at the Rangers Practice Pitch, Independence Layout in Enugu on Wednesday.
Rangers showed their class against NLO side Ingas FC following a comprehensive and convincing 5-1 thrashing in the one-sided FA Cup final.
Godwin Obaje was the star of the match for the Flying Antelopes following a late second half brace from the reliable striker.
Match in brief
2016 NPFL winners Rangers went into the FA Cup final as clear favourites and didn't disappoint their fans in at the Practice Pitch inside Independence Layout.
Rangers got to business early on in the match when fullback, Chidera Ezeh, opened the scoring in the seventh minute with an excellent free kick.
A mazy solo goal by Innocent Gabriel doubled the lead for the Flying Antelopes eight minutes later as Abdul Maikaba looked to run away with the title early on to deliver on the promise made to Rangers fans.
Ingas would not go down without a fight and looked to have made it a real final when they pulled one goal back just before the half-hour mark.
Okorie Chiedozie lived up to his name when he stepped up to drill home the second free kick goal of the game to bring scores to 2-1 at the break.
The second half
In the second half, it was all Rangers as the Flying Antelopes came back from the break with venom led by that man Obaje.
Chidiebere Nwobodo was the first to add to the score line when he restored Rangers’ two-goal cushion in the 57th minute.
Two goals in three late minutes from the reliable Obaje wrapped up proceedings at the Independence Layout to seal another State FA Cup crown for the Flying Antelopes.
