The Los Blancos’ forward was subjected to insults in a game that also experienced chaotic moments.

Real Madrid have released a statement condemning the vile attacks against Vinicius Jr. on Sunday.

The incident came when Real Madrid played and lost 1-0 to Valencia at Mestalla Stadium. The game had to be temporarily stopped when the Brazilian claimed he was insulted by the fan behind one of the goals at the stadium.

The 22-year-old confronted some of the fans who aimed discriminatory insults in his direction before he was sent off.

"Real Madrid C.F. strongly condemns the events that took place yesterday against our player Vinicius Junior," the club said.

"These events represent a direct attack on the social and democratic model of co-existence in our state based on the rule of law.

"Real Madrid believes that such attacks also constitute a hate crime and has therefore filed the corresponding report with the Attorney General's office, specifically with the prosecutor's office, against crimes of hatred and discrimination, in order for the facts to be investigated and for those responsible to be held accountable.

"Given the seriousness of the events that took place, Real Madrid has appealed to the Attorney General's Office, without prejudice to its standing as a private prosecutor in any proceedings that may be initiated."

Vinicius himself released a statement condemning the act and accusing La Liga and Spain of racism.

Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Rio Ferdinard, and Ronaldo, Brazil’s icon who played for Barcelona and Real Madrid, are among the high-profile personalities that have condemned the act.
