The Spaniard has not officially signed his contract yet but the move is expected to be finalised after Madrid’s final game of the La Liga season, which comes at the Santiago Bernabeu against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
The Spain international also attracted strong interest from Premier League club Aston Villa, who were prepared to offer a lucrative alternative but it is the French champions who appear to have won the race for his signature.
He has made 50 appearances for the La Liga side this season, scoring 12 goals and providing eight assists.
