Madrid became the first football club in history to generate over a billion dollars in revenue for a season.
LaLiga EA Sports giants Real Madrid generated revenue of €1.07 billion ($1.16 billion based on current exchange rates) for the year ending June 30.
This is the highest revenue ever posted by a professional sports franchise in a fiscal year, surpassing the previous high set by their Spanish rivals FC Barcelona, which earned €990 million ($1.07 billion) during the 2018-19 season.
According to Sportico, this revenue total marks a 27% increase compared to the 2022-23 season.
The significant growth in Madrid’s income was mainly driven by profits in gameday and sponsorship revenue, including a new deal with HP to serve as the team's sleeve sponsor.

Although broadcast revenue from LaLiga declined during the 2023-24 season, every other line of Madrid’s business saw growth.

Real Madrid have released a statement explaining the source of their income
Real Madrid’s financial and On-field Success EXPLAINED
According to a report via the aforementioned outlet, Real Madrid’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) remained flat for the year at $169 million after player trading, while net income jumped 32% to $16.8 million.
However, depreciation and amortisation charges likely consumed most of the operating profit as their Net equity as of June 30 was $620 million.
Real Madrid’s on-field success significantly contributed to its financial results.
Real Madrid won the LaLiga title, the Spanish Cup, and a record 15th Champions League title —the latter for the sixth time in the past 11 years.
On the other hand, Real Madrid's basketball team also had a stellar season, winning its league, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup, and reaching the EuroLeague final.
These achievements are included in the club's overall accounts.
Pulse Sports earlier reported that Real Madrid ranked second, just behind Manchester United, in the list of the world’s most valuable football clubs, with an estimated value of $6.06 billion, making it the 13th most valuable sports franchise globally.
The Los Blancos outfit also anticipates further strong financial results for the 2024-25 fiscal year, bolstered by the recent signing of French megastar Kylian Mbappé on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain and the completion of the Santiago Bernabéu renovation.
This update, which has involved an investment of $1.26 billion so far, is expected to unlock even greater financial benefits in the coming season.
