Young Elephants FC were a surprise package for Police FC in the BetPawa FUFA Big League at Kyabazinga Stadium on Sunday.
The Jinja-based side held the Cops in a six-goal thriller sharing spoils in a 3-3 stalemate on matchday 19.
Both teams have different ambitions with Young Elephants in the relegation zone while Police are chasing promotion to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League next season.
Young Elephants are positioned 14th on the FBL log with 11 points and survival could be a challenge for them.
On the other hand, Police are the table leaders with 37 points after 19 games and promotion back to the SUPL is in sight but they have struggled in the second round of the season.
The Kavumba-based outfit have won one of their last five games, 4-1 against Jinja North United FC, drawing four games against Onduparaka FC, Kaaro Karungi FC, Lugazi FC, and Young Elephants.
Similarly, Mbale Heroes FC’s promotion ambitions were also dealt a blow after their 1-0 loss to rivals Kataka FC at Mbale Municipal Stadium.
They remained second with 34 points, three points ahead of third-placed Lugazi who have played two games less.
Meanwhile, the victory over Mbale Heroes revived Kataka’s hopes of promotion lifting them to fourth place with 30 points.
Blacks Power FC are also watching on closely in the fifth position with 28 points thanks to a 1-0 victory over Onduparaka at Green Light Stadium.
