The Sky Blues boss is happy with the result of their season's opening game but hinted his players could have scored more.
Remo Stars coach Daniel Ogunmodede has expressed delight with the outcome of his club's game against El-Kanemi Warriors on Sunday.
Remo defeated the newly promoted outfit 2-0 in their first game of the 2023 abridged season in the NPFL at the Remo Stadium in Ikenne.
The Ikenne-based side needed two goals in either half to subdue their counterparts from the north, who put up a brave fight in their first game back in the Nigerian topflight.
Samuel Anakwe and Edidiong Ezekiel, who scored his first goal for the club, were the heroes on the day for the Sky Blues.
Coach Ogunmodede reacts to the win
Speaking on the game, Remo's boss, Ogunmodede, was happy with the win but hinted that his players could have scored more than two goals as they were overzealous and missed so many chances.
"I am very delighted (with the win) because it was a test match for us," Ogunmodede told Remo media.
"First match of the season after a very long time (away from the game), They boys were overexcited, they want to impress, and they're so overzealous."
Remo boss happy with three points but rues missed chances
"If you see in the early hours of the game, we had a lot of chances and we squandered them," he added.
"(But) fortunately we got the first goal in the first half and late in the second half. But nevertheless, and most importantly for the league is getting the needed three points.
Up next for Remo
Remo Stars are on the road next as they make the long trip to Gombe to take on another newly promoted side in Gombe United.
Unlike El-Kanemi Warriors, Gombe travelled to Ilorin for their opener and came back with a share of the spoils against their host, Kwara United.
Remo Stars will face another stern test when they go head-to-head with Gombe for the first time in the NPFL.
Two points separate both teams heading into this game but the Sky Blues have won each of their last three matches in the league and will be full of confidence for this one.
