The ninth edition of the Nigeria Pitch Awards will see a host of categories including the Football Pitch of the Year award.
The trio of Remo Stars Stadium, Godswill Akpabio Stadium and the Mobolaji Johnson Arena have been nominated for the Football Pitch of the Year category in the latest edition of the Nigeria Pitch Awards.
Launched in 2013, the Nigeria Pitch Awards are awards presented to Nigerian former and present sports people, administrators and journalists in recognition of their positive contributions to sports in Nigeria.
Three stadiums nominated in new category
The Football Pitch of the Year award comes in as one of the new categories in the awards ceremony.
Nominated stadium in the Pitch of the Year category includes:
- Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne
- Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo
- Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan-Lagos
The 5000-seater in Ikenne serves as the home ground to Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Remo Stars and has been hailed as one of the best privately-run sports infrastructure.
The other nominated stadiums are the 30000-seater Godswill Akpabio Stadium which serves as a home ground to Uyo-based NPFL clubs Akwa United and Dakkada.
The Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos will this season, serve as the home ground of NNL clubs Joy Cometh FC, Sporting Lagos, Smart City, Ikorodu City and Madiba FC.

- Football Journalist of the Year-Print

- Football Journalist of the Year-Online.
