Remo Stars are now the only club in the NPFL this season, with both a 100% win and clean sheet record.
Bendel Insurance, Remo Stars and El-Kanemi Warriors all shook up Group A's standing on Thursday as the final set of games for the second game week of the 2023 NPFL season came to a conclusion.
In four matches played in Group A, seven goals were recorded, two of which ended in 2-1 wins for the hosts and another an away win.
Here is a quick round-up of the matches played in Group A.
Bendel Insurance 2-1 Plateau United
Having come off with a surprise win in their first game of the season, motivated Bendel Insurance headed to the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Thursday with the intent to impress again.
After a first-half barren of goals, the Benin Arsenal plunged into the second with all of their arsenals, scoring Plateau United first in the 53rd minute through Ismael Sarki.
The visitors then responded late as Mustapha Abdullahi converted an 88th-minute penalty. However, a headed goal from Imade Oserenkhoe in the 90+3 minute was enough to see the newcomers return to the top of Group A.
Gombe United 0-1 Remo Stars
Remo Stars consolidated on their first win of the season by going away to the Pantami Stadium in Gombe to sneak away a 1-0.
After Christian Molokwu missed an earlier second-half penalty the hosts, the Sky Blues responded with a late goal in the 89th minute, Andy Okpe scoring to help the Ikenne-club end Gombe United's home run of 24 consecutive games without a defeat.
Shooting Stars 0-0 Kwara United
The Lekan Salami Stadium witnessed the only barren game of the day with Shooting Stars and Kwara United calling it even on Thursday.
It became the second consecutive draw for both teams who had also drawn their first games of the season. The result leaves both sides in the mid-section of Group A, Shooting Stars, the better-positioned side on goal difference.
El-Kanemi Warriors 2-1 Nasarawa United
In Maiduguri, El-Kanemi Warriors bounced back from their opening-day defeat to secure their first win of the season.
Despite a late resurgence that saw Nasarawa United grab a goal through Onuche Ogbelu, goals in either half of the game through Alfa Igbudu and Zaayad Musa were enough for the Maiduguri club to move from the bottom half of the table to fourth in Group A.
