According to multiple reports, Babangida was travelling with his brother, Ibrahim, when the accident happened.
The accident, which reportedly happened around Zaria, claimed the life of Babangida’s brother, Ibrahim.
However, according to multiple reports, Tijani is in critical but stable condition. There are still no details on the cause of the accident, but the former Ajax star is currently recuperating at Shika Hospital in Zaria.
Who is Ibrahim Babangida?
While Tijani survived the crash, his brother, Ibrahim did not survive. The ex-Voldendam man represented Nigeria at the U-17 World Cup in 1993, which Nigeria won.
Although he did not have a distinguished career like his brother, Ibrahim played for domestic clubs like Stationery Stores and Katsina United during his career.
Ibrahim was also a teammate with the likes of Kanu Nwankwo and Wilson Oruma, who were in the all-conquering squad of the Nigeria U-17 team.
What about Tijani Babangida?
Unlike his brother, Tijani had a solid professional career. The former winger, who was known for his speed, played for clubs like Roda JC, VV Venlo, Gençlerbirliği and Vitesse during his career.
Tijani also played for the four-time European champions Ajax, scoring 20 goals in 77 games for the Dutch giants.
