Former Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard who has been out of a job since being sacked by Aston Villa last year, is reportedly in talks to return to management
Steven Gerrard looks set to return to management after an unsuccessful spell as Aston Villa boss came to an end last October.
Gerrard in talks with Poland
According to the Liverpool Echo, the Polish Football Association have opened talks with Gerrard over succeeding Czeslaw Michniewicz. The former Reds captain is said to be weighing up the offer.
Poland were eliminated from the 2022 FIFA World Cup in the last 16 after a 3-1 defeat to France. Czesław Michniewicz left his position as head coach upon the expiry of his contract and Steven Gerrard has emerged as a surprise candidate to replace him.
Gerrard's achievements in Scotland may count in his favour
Despite his disappointing tenure as Villa boss, the Polish FA may have been impressed by his stint in charge of Scottish side Rangers. He oversaw 124 wins, 41 draws, and 27 defeats at Ibrox.
Gerrard led the Scottish side to their first league title in 10 years in 2021, ending arch-rivals Celtic's hopes of becoming the first side to win the league 10 times in a row.
However, he endured a disappointing period in charge of Aston Villa, managing 13 wins, 8 draws, and 19 losses as Villa boss.
