Recent reports suggest that Real Madrid have ended their pursuit of Kylian Mbappe - a player they have been linked to for many seasons because of certain concerns.

Spanish giants Real Madrid have reportedly ruled out acquiring the services of France World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe.

Los Merengues identified some good reasons why they will likely look away from signing Mbappe, a player they have pursued for many seasons.

When Kylian Mbappe refused to renew his contract at PSG many believed that a move to team up with other French superstars in Carlo Ancelotti’s side was imminent, but reports from Cadena SER (via Marca) suggest otherwise.

Mbappe, who finished in third place in the Ballon d’Or race behind Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland, has already notched up 12 goals in 14 appearances this season, but going by the report from Cadena SER, Real Madrid are no longer looking in his direction.

Three reasons why Real Madrid won’t sign Mbappe

According to the Spanish outlet, there are three significant reasons why Real Madrid have ruled out signing Kylian Mbappe - even on a free transfer when his deal at PSG expires in the summer.

The reasons include the following;

1. Mbappe’s high salary demands

The top-most concern Real Madrid have with signing Mbappe is his high wage demands. Mbappe’s move from PSG to Madrid on a free transfer would cost Los Blancos in the region of 20 million euros annually.

Also, a huge sign-on bonus must be added to the salary demand. The same situation applies should Mbappe renew his deal at PSG, and then a transfer fee is required to sign him.

2. Mbappe’s age

Kylian Mbappe would turn 25 by December 20, 2023, and when his deal at PSG expires, the Frenchman would be closing in on 26.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid have a stringent policy on signing young players.

The most successful club in the history of the UEFA Champions League favour signing players who have age on their side, and especially those below the age of 20.

3. Mbappe’s great turnaround still hurts Madrid

Kylian Mbappe was expected to join Real Madrid two seasons ago, but in an extraordinary turnaround, the Frenchman renewed his deal with PSG after being offered a mouthwatering contract and made the team captain.

Cadena SER believes that for these reasons, Real Madrid have ultimately ended their pursuit of the French superstar.

Final Thoughts

Since the departure of Kareem Benzema to Saudi Arabia, Los Blancos have not lacked in the attacking third, with summer signing Jude Bellingham banging in goals on a steady.

Real Madrid also have in their ranks Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, and Joselu, who have all been in decent form and while the addition of Mbappe to any team would give it a big boost, it also comes with some challenges.
