Villa came close to winning their first league title in 19 years but fell short on the final day of the season.
SC Villa is set to part ways with head coach Jackson Magera and his assistant Ibrahim Kirya.
The record Uganda Premier League champions are said to have already communicated to both tacticians about the development.
Magera’s contract will expire at the end of June, and Swift Sports Uganda reports that the club administration, led by Omar Mandela, will not renew it.
Villa came close to winning their first league title in 19 years but fell short on the final day of the season.
Having gone into the final day with a one-point lead on Vipers and KCCA, the Jogoos lost 1-0 to URA FC to see the title slip through their hands.
Vipers demolished Busoga United 5-0 to snatch the trophy, while KCCA’s 5-0 win over Bright Stars further pushed Villa down to third place.
The club is now said to have already embarked on a search for a new head coach.
Magera replaced Greek tactician Petros Koukouras and teamed up with Kirya to form a formidable side that surprised many in the just-concluded season.
It is not clear yet whether the decision was informed by the Jogoos’ collapse on the final day of the season or the need for the club to take a different direction.
Magera had been part of Mike Mutebi’s coaching team at KCCA before switching to Villa and has used this season to enhance his reputation as a tactician.
