Free agent Allan Kayiwa is set to finally complete a contract extension with Express Football Club, after over two months since his contract expired.

The 2022/23 Uganda Premier League topscorer will, according to his camp, pen down a one-year employment contract with the Red Eagles in the coming days.

The developments come in time after Kayiwa failed to secure a move to Rwandan champions APR weeks back.

APR first expressed interest in June this year, but the deal stalled and got completely off over unknown reasons.

The window has been an awkward one for the attacker, after getting linked to a return to Vipers SC, SC Villa and Rayon Sport in Rwanda, whilst joining none.

Kayiwa ended the campaign with 13 league goals and four assists for Express FC, in what was his first season at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

With Express desperate for quality and experience in their ranks after a quiet summer transfer window, a new contract to Kayiwa would come in handy for the James Odoch coached side.

The team finished 10th last season, having gathered just 37 points in 28 league matches.

Despite Odoch ruling the UPL trophy out for the next campaign, 'Mukwano Gwabangi' will be hoping for a better season in the incoming season.
