Four-time Uganda Premier League champions URA FC want to replace their fallen coach Sam Timbe with serial winner Alex Isabirye, Pulse Sports Uganda understands.
Timbe passed on a week after a short illness, leaving the head coach position vacant just a few weeks before the 2023/24 Uganda Premier League campaign started.
The Tax Collectors, who target a swift but worthy successor, contacted Isabirye, who only resigned from Vipers about two months back.
A reliable scoop from URA indicates the two parties are in talks and are advancing towards a timely agreement.
Should the two parties reach an amicable ground, Isabirye will return to a club he once coached and delivered relative success.
With URA between 2010-2013, he won three trophies, including the 2010/11 UPL title, the Uganda Cup in 2012 and the 2012 Super Cup.
He has since won the Uganda Cup with BUL FC and a domestic double with Vipers in his most recent assignment.
Meanwhile, reports have also linked a few other big names to the URA job, including Sam Ssimbwa and Abdullah Mubiru.
