Four-time Uganda Premier League champions URA FC are edging closer to signing the successor to goalkeeper Nafian Alionzi's throne.
According to trusted sources, the Tax Collectors will sign former Arua Hill SC goalkeeper Rogers Omedwa on a two-year employment contract.
This website initially reported that Alionzi would not renew with URA, having seen out his contract last month and that he was eyeing a move beyond the boundaries.
He has spent the past six years at URA and been their captain for the past two seasons but is now seeking new adventures.
And, the Taxmen reportedly view the free agent, who departed Arua Hill at the end of the season, as his (Alionzi) successor.
On a two-year deal, Omedwa joined Kongolo in the 2021/2022 season from Jinja-based side Busoga United.
Across the past two campaigns, he has played 22 league games, with 14 coming in the most recent season.
URA has already made three player additions: John Innocent Kisolo, Amis Bwangani and Denis Luzige Kisiriko.
