A move to Chelsea could see Victor Osimhen become one of the highest paid players in the Premier League
Premier League Chelsea are reportedly making underground moves to secure the services of Nigerian sensation Victor Osimhen from Napoli, hoping to snatch him from under the noses of famed suitors Paris Saint-Germain and Premier League rivals Arsenal.
Osimhen's impending departure from Napoli
With Osimhen poised to depart Napoli in the summer, the Italian club hope to recoup the €120m stated in the Nigerian’s release clause, a figure that has attracted attention from top European clubs.
Despite Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis' reputation as a tough negotiator, interested parties, including PSG and Chelsea, are devising plans to acquire the prolific striker for a lower amount.
Details of Chelsea's approach for Osimhen
According to Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport, Chelsea has devised a strategy to persuade Osimhen to Stamford Bridge, which includes offering the Super Eagles star a tempting package that not only includes rich compensation above his current €10 million net per season earnings but also includes a player swap and a lower transfer fee.
Chelsea are reportedly willing to make an offer of roughly €80 million plus former Inter and Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku and an undisclosed young player in order to persuade Napoli and De Laurentiis to agree to a deal for Osimhen. However, concerns remain about this idea, notably Lukaku's high salaries given that Napoli will likely not be in the UEFA Champions League next season.
Napoli president De Laurentiis also maintains his stance on a transfer for Osimhen, insisting on the full payment of Osimhen's release clause, which might jeopardise Chelsea's plan.
