The StarTimes Uganda Premier League season should start already as top sides in Vipers, SC Villa, and KCCA FC have already shown intent going by their respective developments with transfers.

The Joogos roped in Serbian tactician Dusan Stojanovic, while Vipers’ latest capture, 33-year-old Brazilian forward Giancarlo Lopez Rodriguez, has got everyone talking.

At Lugogo, Sergio Moniz Daniel Traguil has already started his reign, although his work is cut out with regards to which players will be retained, leave or come in.

Captain Benjamin Ochan is one of the players whose contract was run down but is expected to renew his stay; however, Pulse Sports can reveal that talks between both parties haven’t progressed as expected.

Even though KCCA FC plan to retain the 33 year old, the side has also opened talks with free agent Nafian Alionz who also ran down his contract with the tax collectors and is yet to renew.

The Uganda Cranes shot-stopper had a great campaign with URA FC last season, picking up the second most clean sheets (12) of the season, one less than Simon Tamale, who has now moved to Rwanda’s Rayon Sports.

Ochan, who kept a goal for the Kasasiro boys for the better part of last season, will be hoping to extend his stay at Lugogo, making it a third stint with the side.

KCCA FC will return to continental football for the first time since 2021, with Sergio hoping to guide the side to the CAF Confederation Cup group stages for the first time since 2017.
