Christmas will come early for Kajiado residents as Harambee Stars midfielder Richard Odada is set to give back to the community in a big way
Harambee Stars midfielder Richard Odada will provide festive cheers to the community with various donations in Kajiado on Tuesday.
Odada has lined up a number of donations, including food stuff, at the Nakeel grounds in Kajiado where he will also provide some inspiration to budding footballers.
The event will come two days after Odada graced the Morans Golden Cup in Ildamat, Kajiado on Sunday, where he met and advised participants who are also seeking to kick start their football journey.
“Thank you, people of Kajiado for embracing footballing talents from the vast communities across the region. We are truly seeing hope is building and growing in our society. I am glad to have shared the platform with Kajiado County Deputy Governor Martin Moshisho together with other leaders from different fields. I would like to extend my congratulations to all the participating teams,” Odada posted on social media on Sunday.
Odada is coming off a great campaign with Danish side Aalborg where he has become a revelation, having joined them on loan from US club Philadelphia Union.
The midfielder has scored four goals, while providing an assist, in 12 games for Aalborg where he was among the top performers having been a largely a bench warmer in Philadelphia.
Odada’s story is truly inspirational, having overcome tough spells to become a full Kenyan international.
He started out at Laiser Hill before a brief stint at AFC Leopards and made a switch to Europe where he had trials in Italy, Switzerland and Serbia, the latter offering him his first contract abroad when he joined Red Star Belgrade.
Odada began in the youth team before a few appearances in the senior side were followed by two loan stints and he cut ties with the club in August 2022 to join Philadelphia Union.

STARS ABROAD Joseph Okumu donates van to childhood team Chemelil Youth FC
Harambee Stars defender Joseph Okumu has given back to his former club Chemelil Youth FC after donating a van to aid their movement as they participate in the FKF Kisumu County League
His hopes of featuring regularly were, however, dashed as he became a bit-part player who shuttled between the youth and senior team before he made the switch to Denmark where his true potential has been unleashed.
Odada’s good form for Aalborg has coincided with his regular involvement in the national team where he is among the undroppable players for Harambee Stars coach Egin Firat.
