Speaking ahead of the match, Robertinho said that the team needs to be careful when they have the ball and must reduce mistakes that could cost them.
Simba SC coach Roberto Oliviera 'Robertinho' has emphasized the importance of concentration throughout the 90 minutes as his team prepares for their CAF Champions League game against Vipers.
It will be a special occasion for Robertinho as he returns to the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende for the first time since he left the club in December.
The Brazilian won both the Uganda Premier League and Uganda Cup titles during his 18 months at the club, and will still carry as much knowledge about the club and the players as well.
Speaking ahead of the match, Robertinho said that the team needs to be careful when they have the ball and must reduce mistakes that could cost them.
"In the Champions League, we don't look at big wins. Whether a team wins by one goal or five, they all get three points, and that's what is important," said Robertinho.
"We need to get three points tomorrow to restore the morale of the team, although we respect Vipers due to the quality they have."
"We need to be careful when we have the ball, and if we lose it, we have stressed the players to use the opportunities we create. We need to get three points away from home."
Oliveira is still a popular figure around St. Mary’s, with his replacement Beto Bianchi saying that he looks forward to seeing him, and expects quite a reception for his compatriot.
Simba captain and central defender Joash Onyango said that they had arrived in Uganda knowing that the game would be difficult.
"Vipers are a good team, and we respect them. But we are fully prepared to ensure that we win and take all three points away from home," said Onyango.
Simba will be looking to their key players, including John Bocco, Moses Phiri, and midfielders Clatous Chama and Peter Banda, to secure their first victory in Group C.
However, they will have to do so without the following players: Jonas Mkude, Jimmyson Mwanuke, Mohamed Mussa, and Augustine Okrah.
The game against the Venoms will be only the first meeting between the two clubs in the competition, with both clubs coming into the tie chasing three points to keep their continental campaign alive.
Vipers are third in the group after collecting one point from two games, while Simba is bottom of the group after suffering defeats in their opening two games against Raja Casablanca and AC Horoya.
