Simba SC produced a top performance as they claimed the derby bragging rights during their 2-0 win over arch-rivals Young Africans on Sunday evening at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium.
It was the first derby experience for Simba’s head coach Robertinho Oliviera, and it looks like the victory has come with approval from his doubters.
Centre-back Hennock Inonga and winger Denis Kibu scored in the first half to earn Roberto Oliviera’s side maximum points.
Simba took the lead after just two minutes through Hennock Inonga’s powerful header off a beautiful Shamori Kapombe cross on the right.

A brief downpour calmed down both teams, but when the clouds cleared, Simba engaged another gear; Kibu Denis pounced on a poor pass and ran down the right flank before he unleashed a rocket of a shot to double Simba’s lead in the 32nd minute.
The yellow and green army was silenced throughout the entire time as Simba stretched their league unbeaten run to 19 games.
