Head coach Roberto Oliveira, who has been at the helm since January, believes that the team has achieved several positives, notably earning a spot in the African Super League following their performance in the CAF Champions League last season.

Simba SC may not have secured a major trophy in Tanzanian football over the past two seasons, but their progress on the pitch this season is evident.

Head coach Roberto Oliveira, who has been at the helm since January, believes that the team has achieved several positives, notably earning a spot in the African Super League following their performance in the CAF Champions League last season.

"Simba plays with flair,” Remarked Robertinho Oliveira in an interview with the club's media, he added.

“The players and my coaching staff emphasize pleasure over pressure. The players' strong personalities and the unwavering support of our fans have created an environment where the team can excel.”

The team remains undefeated in the league, and their standout performance in the previous season's CAF Champions League secured them a place in the African Football League—a development that fills Robertinho Oliveira with gratitude for Simba's forward momentum.

Robertinho Oliveira took over as head coach at Simba in January 2023, leaving his role at Vipers SC.

Under his guidance, Msimbazi reached the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League last season, narrowly losing to eventual runners-up Wydad Casablanca in a penalty shootout following a spirited performance.

In a significant achievement, the Brazilian tactician's team extended their unbeaten streak to 15 league games after a convincing 3-1 away victory over Tanzania Prisons on Wednesday.

With 13 wins and two draws in this impressive streak, Robertinho aims to challenge the dominance of Young Africans in the current season.

Simba has watched as arch-rivals 'Tiimu ya Wananchi claimed consecutive domestic trebles and even reached their first-ever CAF Confederation Cup final in 2023.

Msimbazi is one of eight clubs set to participate in the inaugural African Super League tournament, alongside renowned teams such as Egyptian giants Al Ahly, Nigeria's Enyimba, South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns, DR Congo's TP Mazembe, Angola's Petroleos de Luanda, and Tunisia's Esperance.

The champion of the African Super League will pocket an impressive US$4 million, while the runner-up, semi-finalists, and quarterfinalists will each earn US$3 million, US$1.7 million, and US$1 million, respectively.

The tournament kicks off on October 20th in Dar-es-Salaam with a clash between Simba and Al Ahly.
