Roma bounce back from a poor result midweek in Europe with a narrow victory against Hellas Verona.
It was another professional performance for Jose Mourinho's side as they defended a 1-0 scoreline for 45 minutes to beat Hellas Verona.
Roma hosted Verona at the Stadio Olimpico as they looked to bounce back from a disappointing European result midweek. The Giallorossi put on an unspectacular but effective display, picking up maximum points against their visitors.
Roma lost striker Tammy Abraham as early as the 15th minute of the game, but forward Ola Solbakken stepped up and gave them the goal on the stroke of half-time. Neither team managed to affect the scoreboard further.
The win took Roma into the top four, while Hellas remained in the drop, two points away from safety.
How it happened
Roma started the game on the front foot, charging at Verona's goal, but poor finishing ensured the game remained goalless.
Jose Mourinho was forced into an early substitution after Tammy Abraham did not manage to shake off an injury.
The game appeared to be heading for a goalless first half until Spinazolla found Solbakken free in the box, who in turn finished cleanly to give Roma a lead before the halftime team talks.
Roma opted to protect their advantage instead of seeking a bigger scoreline, inviting pressure from their visitors. Verona, however, lacked the offensive quality to trouble Roma's block. Jose Mourinho's men shut out their intruding visitors to take the maximum three points.
