how it happened

Luis Castro’s side dominated the early exchanges and thought they had the opener through a Sadio Mane strike in the 15th minute. However, the goal was ruled out following the VAR intervention.

The hosts on the day kept pushing and eventually grabbed the lead in the 26th minute from the boot of none other than Cristiano Ronaldo. The former Real Madrid man picked up the ball from outside the area, sat the marker down with a dummy, and riffled the ball into the right side of the net.

The third came from a set-piece routine in the 58th minute. Alex Telles swung his free-kick attempt into the box, aiming for Ronaldo. The delivery reached the destination, and the forward opted to square the ball across the goal. Aymeric Laporte was on hand to finish from close range to add assuredness to the scoreline.

The scoreline remained the same for the rest of the duration as Al-Nassr earned maximum points. This meant they kept the distance to Al-Hilal at only four points.
