Mamelodi Sundowns have offered head coach Rulani Mokwena a new four-year contract.
According to SABC Sport, Mokwena hasn’t signed the new contract yet, but Masandawana is optimistic that the tactician will put pen to paper soon.
Mokwena’s future at the club has been a subject of discussion since the season wrapped up a few weeks ago. However, he was optimistic that the club would come through on the matter.
“The club will make an announcement. I love this club. I fall in love with it every day, and I get incredible support from the club, the chairman, the Motsepe family and the board.” He noted last month.
“And there is an excellent relationship with the players; what more can I ask for?”
One of the points of contention was the backroom staff Mokwena wanted to work with, opting to work with something other than the current team of Steve Komphela, Manqoba Mngqithi and goalkeeper coach Wendall Robinson.
The 36-year-old was made permanent head coach in October 2022 when Sundowns quashed the previous arrangement of having three head coaches simultaneously.
The Brazilians then went on to claim the league with seven games to spare but fell short on the continent, losing to Wydad Athletic in the CAF Champions League semifinals on the away goals rule.
With the new DSTV Premiership set to get underway in August, Mamelodi Sundowns hope that Mokwena can sign the new deal before the new campaign gets underway.
Rulani Mokwena has previously coached Chippa United and Orlando Pirates in the South African top flight.
