Rumours of an exit plan for Osimhen from Napoli this summer have been rubbished by his agent

Roberto Calenda, the agent of Napoli’s Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, has dispelled rumours that he has been making moves to secure a move away from Italy for the Super Eagles forward.

Osimhen counted by Europe’s Elite

Osimhen has been a key figure in this summer’s transfer window speculations after a superb 2022/23 season that put him on the radar of many top European clubs, but a move this window looks increasingly unlikely with all signs pointing to him remaining with Napoli for at least one more season.

The Super Eagles striker scored 26 league goals in 32 matches for Napoli last season as they claimed the Scudetto for the first time since 1990 and caught the eye of clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich, but according to his agent, he currently has no interest in leaving the club any time soon.

Instead, Osimhen is widely expected to sign a new contract at Napoli to extend his current deal which runs out in 2025.

Osimhen’s agent denies Napoli exit plan

Osimhen’s agent, Calenda, was quoted by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano as saying, “Reports of my plan to explore all the options now and then not signing new contract at Napoli are completely fake”.

The Nigerian forward who became the highest-scoring African player in Serie A history last season still has at least two years on his current contract, but Napoli are hoping to extend that contract with a new deal that will also ward off suitors or guarantee a heavy payday if they decide to sell.

The Partenopei have reportedly already offered Osimhen terms for a new contract and are waiting on the 24-year-old’s decision before moving ahead with the extension.
