The defending champions recorded an emphatic victory against Union Berlin as the title race heats up in the Bundesliga.
Bayern Munich defeated third-placed Union Berlin 3-0 in the Bundesliga on Sunday, February 26, 2023.
The Bavarian champions began brightly at the Allianz Arena looking dangerous while creating the early chances.
However, the first goal of the game came after the half-hour mark as Kingsley Coman found Eric Maxim Chuopo-Moting who fired home brilliantly to open the scoring.
Union fought back to respond but were no match for the defending champions who largely dominated possession throughout the entire first period.
The hosts soon doubled their lead in the 41st minute as Thomas Muller found Kingsley Coman who fired home the host’s second.
Bayern continued to look the better side and soon made it three in the first half as Jamal Musial fired home his side’s third goal just before the half-time whistle, with the hosts going into the break.
Second Half
There were no goals to tell in the second half as Union Berlin sought a way back into the game.
Sadio Mane finally made his return to action after coming on in the 65th minute for Coman, with the Senegalese displaying some flashes of his usual brilliance.
However, for all of their impressive showings this season, the visitors just had no answer for Julian Nagelsmann’s men who sealed a comfortable 3-0 victory to return to the top of the summit and go level on points with Borussia Dortmund.
Meanwhile, Union Berlin remain third on the table, three points adrift of leaders Bayern.
Man of the Match - Kingsley Coman
The 26-year-old French winger was at his brilliant best for Bayern Munich on Sunday.
Koeman caused Berlin's defence all sorts of problems with his quick feet and dangerous runs, earning himself a goal and an assist in an electric performance for the hosts.
