Sempigi’s departure immediately after Mbarara earned promotion to the top flight surprised many but was preplanned.

Two days after parting ways with Mbarara City FC, coach Sadiq Sempigi has urged the next tactician to take the job with caution and, most importantly, be patient.

The tactician revealed to Pulse Sports that he had started a long-term project that would require a patient coach ready to act as a father figure to the players.

“I had built a project in Mbarara that was long-term. It needs a coach that is serious and a father figure to the players,” Sempigi told Pulse Sports.

“That manager must be very patient. Going to Mbarara to make money, they will not manage.

“I have tested myself as a manager; you must be a manager in all departments.

“Players are looking at you.

Sempigi’s departure immediately after Mbarara earned promotion to the top flight surprised many but was preplanned.

He told Pulse Sports that he asked to have his contract terminated after nine games in the first round and was waiting for the end of the season to leave.

“How they run the club doesn’t favour me. They have their way of doing things, and my demands are different.

“I want to take things the professional way. It’s hard to be successful there; you have to sacrifice a lot.

“There are many challenges behind that don’t allow you to work.”

Sempigi relied on players like Henry Kitegenyi, Jude Semugabi and Solomon Okwalinga to finish second in the FUFA Big League and earn promotion back to the Startimes Uganda Premier League.

The CAF B licenced coach was recently appointed as head coach for Bulemezi ahead of the new Masaza Cup season, and it is not clear yet whether he will have further responsibilities in the top flight or the Big League.

For Mbarara City, however, the new UPL season will start with a new manager in charge.
