The Reds were hoping for a positive result going into this fixture having been held to a stalemate against Crystal Palace over the weekend.
The hosts looked the better side for the entire first period.
In the opening five minutes of the game, Stefan Bajcetic ws the first to try his luck for Liverpool, firing an effort from the edge of the box, but his low strike towards the middle of the goal was too weak to get past Jose Sa, who easily kept it out.
Seconds later, Joao Moutinho had a real chance at the other end of the pitch, seeing his effort saved by Alisson.
Darwin Nunez was next to try his luck in the 11th minute but his strike was way off target as the hosts sought for an early opener.
Liverpool came calling again in the 20th minute, with Mohamed Salah combining with Diogo Jota in the opposition box, but the former’s attempt failed to hit the target.
Wolves were dominated for most spells of the game, and Harvey Elliott had a glorious chance to open the scoring in the 40th minute after being played through on goal by Darwin Nunez, with the young Englishman fluffing his lines when it mattered most.

Second Half
Liverpool continued from where they left off in the second period, creating dangerous chances and looked likelier to open the scoring each passing minute.

However, the Uruguayan striker saw his effort ruled out after a foul in the box was spotted in the build up.
