A list of 15 players who are set to be available as free agents by the summer of 2025.

As the summer transfer window looms large, the footballing world braces itself for the potential blockbuster moves of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain to Real Madrid.

However, the attention isn't limited to Mbappe alone; it's time to keep an eye on the contract situations of some of the world's finest players.

Names like Mohamed Salah, Neymar, Kevin De Bruyne, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Lionel Messi all share a common thread - their contracts are set to expire in 2025.

The burning questions revolve around their futures. Who among them might seek greener pastures? Who is likely to remain loyal to their current clubs?

Mohamed Salah

In the world of football, few names shine as brightly as Mohamed Salah's. The Egyptian superstar has been instrumental in Liverpool's success during the Jurgen Klopp era.

Despite a recent hamstring injury during the Africa Cup of Nations, Salah remains a key figure as Liverpool aims for their second Premier League title. Last summer, he garnered significant interest, with Saudi club Al Ittihad making a £150 million bid.

The saga of Salah's contract continues, and sources close to Al Ittihad suggest they're willing to offer a staggering £200 million, approximately four times his current salary. While Salah appears committed to Liverpool, uncertainties about the club's future following Klopp's departure might influence his decision.

Neymar

Brazil's biggest star, Neymar, embarked on a new chapter by joining Al Hilal from PSG in a record £80 million transfer last August. Unfortunately, an injury to his left knee's anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus has sidelined him for the season.

The 32-year-old's future is uncertain, with the 2026 World Cup on the horizon. Neymar might seek a return to Europe or a homecoming to Brazil to ensure he plays at the highest level before the tournament. Staying with Al Hilal, where he's set to earn an estimated $300 million over two years, is also an option.

Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi, fresh from winning FIFA's Men's Player of the Year award, continues to impress. His move to Major League Soccer (MLS) with Inter Miami and the possibility of rejoining his hometown club, Newell's Old Boys, remain appealing options.

Messi's contract expires when he turns 38, allowing for various career paths, including retirement or extending his MLS deal until 2026.

Joshua Kimmich

Joshua Kimmich, a key player for Bayern Munich, has played a pivotal role since joining in 2015. However, negotiations for his contract extension have yet to begin, raising concerns.

Manchester City are eyeing a move for the midfielder, but a deal won't be straightforward. If Kimmich doesn't sign a new contract, Bayern may put him up for sale in the summer, potentially losing a top-class player in his prime.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Trent Alexander-Arnold, a product of Liverpool's academy, has become a cornerstone for the club. With 18 months left on his contract, Liverpool aims to secure the 25-year-old's long-term commitment. Despite the upcoming departure of Klopp, who gave him his debut, Alexander-Arnold remains a vital asset for the club's future.

Alphonso Davies

Alphonso Davies, a world-class full-back, has dazzled at Bayern Munich since breaking into the first team in 2019.

His contract expires in 2025, and if no extension is agreed upon, Bayern may consider selling him in the summer. Real Madrid is monitoring his situation closely, but Bayern won't let him go easily.

Kevin De Bruyne

Kevin De Bruyne, despite injury setbacks, remains one of the best midfielders globally. With his contract expiring soon, Manchester City is preparing for alternatives but hopes to keep their star creator. The Belgian's age and injury history add complexity to the situation.

Leroy Sane

Leroy Sane has found his best form under Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich. If his contract isn't renewed, Bayern may consider selling him in the summer. Sane's versatility and strong performance make him an attractive option for top European clubs.

Son Heung-min

Son Heung-min has taken on a leadership role at Tottenham Hotspur following the departures of Lloris and Kane.

With an option to extend his contract, Tottenham is expected to secure the South Korean's future as they rebuild under Ange Postecoglou.

Virgil van Dijk

Virgil van Dijk, named captain by Klopp, has returned to peak form in Liverpool's defense. With 18 months left on his contract, both the player and the club face decisions about his future. Van Dijk's age and Liverpool's ongoing transformation add complexity to the situation.

Ivan Toney

Ivan Toney, after serving a ban, has returned to top form for Brentford. His desire to play for a top club may lead to a summer departure. Brentford will likely facilitate a move, given the potential for a significant transfer fee.

Warren Zaire-Emery, a 17-year-old prodigy, has made waves at PSG. The French club is eager to secure his future, considering the eventual departure of Kylian Mbappe. Top European clubs will be quick to react if contract negotiations stall.

Weston McKennie

Weston McKennie has become a crucial player for Juventus. Regular club football is crucial as he aims to secure a role with the United States in the 2026 World Cup. Clubs in need of a high-energy midfielder will closely monitor his situation.

Thiago Almada

Thiago Almada's potential departure from Atlanta United could set a transfer record for Major League Soccer.

The 22-year-old Argentine is keen on a move to a top European club, and Atlanta is expected to facilitate the transfer if the valuation is met.

Conor Gallagher

Conor Gallagher's future at Chelsea remains uncertain. Despite interest from other clubs, he has played regularly under Mauricio Pochettino. Chelsea may face a tough decision regarding the academy graduate's future.
