This is the Egyptian’s 30th goal of the season and was enough to seal all three points.

Liverpool recorded their sixth straight win after edging Brentford 1-0 at Anfield on Saturday.

The result means that the Reds are sixth, just a point behind Manchester United, who are in action on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Liverpool came close to breaking the deadlock in the 12th minute. Salah got down the right and knocked a cross towards the near post with the outside of his left foot, but Brentford cleared, although Darwin Nunez was so close to heading it in.

In the 13th minute, Salah scored his 100th goal at Anfield to put the Reds ahead. Fabinho clipped the ball to Virgil van Dijk, who stayed up after a corner had been cleared. He nodded the ball across goal for Salah, who scored even though he was almost denied by David Raya.

Nunez was flagged offside in the 16th minute as Liverpool were more determined to score again. Fabinho picked out Nunez, who made strides before he launched a shot from his left foot, which was saved by Raya before the offside flag was raised.

A chance to score the second was wasted by Cody Gakpo in the 53rd minute. Salah slid the ball for Diogo Jota inside the area, and he smashed it across the face of the goal. It hit Gakpo, but the ball did not go in.

Trent Alexander-Arnold attempted a 25-yard strike, which was deflected for a Liverpool corner in the 74th minute. Andrew Robertson delivered the corner towards Ibrahima Konate, but the French defender could not get enough contact on his header, and Brentford managed to clear the danger.

Raya pulled off a good save to deny Alexander-Arnold in the 75th minute. The England international drove a shot from outside the box, and the Brentford goalkeeper pushed it behind.

Aaron Hickey misplaced his header at the edge of the box, and it landed on Gakpo’s path, but the Dutchman flashed it wide after he brought it down superbly to strike in the 84th minute.

Liverpool held on for the slender win to take them to a point off the top four as the fight for Champions League football gets interesting.
