Former Shabana coach Sammy Okoth has revealed his next plans following his dismissal from Tore Bobe

Former Shabana coach Sammy Okoth has revealed his next plan after leaving Tore Bobe at the start of this month.

Okoth received his marching orders after Shabana lost three straight games with pressure mounting from fans over a change in the dugout.

The former Vihiga United coach had thrown in the towel before rescinding his decision but he was gone one week later when results did not improve.

With the Shabana chapter behind his back, Okoth intends to return to the dugout soon but not after a short break.

“I am still recollecting myself. I want to enjoy this break for about one month before I return to football,” said Okoth, who did not wish to be drawn into his stint with Shabana.

“I am a football man but I want to keep a low profile, gauge everything before I decide my next move. I have decided to go downlow because if I say much, I might be blocking potential employers.”

Okoth led Shabana to Premier League promotion after 17 years in the cold, having ended the 2022-23 campaign as the National Super League champions.

He, however, endured a tough start to life in the Premier League, leading Shabana to one win in 10 top flight matches, having drawn four and lost five.

Following his departure, Shabana appointed his assistant Oscar Kambona in an interim capacity and he started with 2-1 win over Nzoia Sugar.

Kambona will be hoping to maintain the good run when they take on leaders Posta Rangers this weekend to put himself in contention for a permanent role as the club continues its search for Okoth’s replacement.
