The Super Eagles' head coach Jose Peseiro made a few mistakes that led to the draw against Saudi Arabia.

Nigeria played a 2-2 draw against the Saudi Arabia National team during their International friendly game.

Nigeria conceded the first goal of the game in the second half after Uzoho made a horrible mistake by failing to clear the ball.

The Super Eagles got back in the game shortly from an own goal made by a Saudi Arabian defender before scoring the second goal from a beautiful strike by Iheanacho.

The game which looked like a sealed victory for Nigeria was cut short after a last-minute freekick was defected into the back of the net, ending in a 2-2 scoreline.

With the match ending in a draw, we take a look at some mistakes which were made by the Super Eagles' head coach Jose Peseiro.

1. Picking Uzoho as his first-choice goalkeeper

Jose Peseiro’s first mistake was giving Francis Uzoho the chance to still be the Super Eagles' first-choice goalkeeper.

Uzoho has been very poor since he joined the Super Eagles and has made several errors that have cost Nigeria.

The goalkeeper was at fault for Saudi Arabia’s first goal after failing to save a freekick that was heading straight at him.

The fact that Francis Uzoho is still considered as our first-choice goalkeeper makes the Super Eagles look vulnerable at the back.

His lack of composure and decision-making makes him a bad choice for the Super Eagles as they prepare for the AFCON tournament.

2. Kelechi Iheanacho not starting

Another terrible mistake made by Peseiro was not including Kelechi Iheanacho in his starting lineup and leaving him off the bench.

The one player that makes the Super Eagles dangerous when attacking with the ball is the Leicester City forward.

Iheanacho has a good understanding with Victor Osimhen and both of them have become good partners who complement each other.

The introduction of Iheanacho in the second half changed the dynamics of the Super Eagles' attack and gave them enough freedom to create chances.

The Leicester forward was on the scoresheet for Nigeria, scoring the second goal shortly after replacing Samuel Chuwkueze.

Peseiro should know that Kelechi Iheanacho is an important player in his team and should be starting every Super Eagles game.

3. Starting Tyronne Ebuehi instead of Bright Osayi

Another mistake made by Jose Peseiro was starting Tyronne Ebuehi at right-back instead of Bright Osayi.

Bright Osayi was excellent during the few minutes he spent on the field, making dangerous runs down the Saudi Arabian right flank.

The full-back showed more composure on the ball and helped with attacking runs down the right wing for the Super Eagles.

Tyronne Ebuehi was not solid when attacking and his defending isn’t as solid as that of Bright Osayi who can go forward and also recover.

Peseiro needs to learn from these mistakes going forward to avoid letting the Super Eagles lose games that they are meant to win.
