Scott McTominay has explained what inspired Manchester United to victory over Fulham on Saturday at Craven Cottage.

Man United have struggled to win games this season, with Ten Hag’s position on the line after several losses.

The Red Devils needed a win against Fulham to get back their strides after a difficult start to the season.

Bruno Fernandes' last-ditch effort in injury time ended in the back of the goal, giving Man Utd the victory.

One of the reasons the Red Devils were heated up for the game before kickoff has been revealed by McTominay.

The Scotland international gestured at a flag being carried by travelling Manchester United fans in the away end.

The "Play like you mean it" banner appeared to start a dialogue among the United players in the locker room.

Speaking to TNT Sports as reported by the Sun, McTominay said: “Yeah we’ve seen it, we’ve seen the banner before the game.

“And a few of said ‘do you know what? The fans pay good money to come watch every week and the support is relentless towards us every single week.

“And we just want to repay them as best we can. Things haven’t been going the best at the moment,

“But like I say it’s a building block, step by step and with the manager and the coaching staff we trust them a lot. We trust the players and I feel like we can go on and kick on and do better.”

Manchester United has been having a terrible season, but a win over Fulham could spark a turnaround in the team's performance.

Now, Erik ten Hag's team will focus on the Champions League when they go to Copenhagen on Wednesday evening.
