Senegal President Macky Sall has given Sadio Mane some wise counsel following his secret wedding to his little-known long-term partner Aisha Tamba

Senegal President Macky Sall is among those who have congratulated Sadio Mane following his marriage to his long-term partner Aisha Tamba.

The 31-year-old superstar tied the knot with the 19-year-old last weekend, ending speculation over his marital status and he has been receiving best wishes from around the world.

Sall, who hosted the national team ahead of the 2023 African Nations Cup, took the opportunity to give some wise counsel to the Al-Nassr forward.

“First of all, I would like to warmly congratulate our national Nianthi, Sadio Mane, who has just got married,” said Sall.

“I called him up so that we could applaud him and wish him a happy marriage. May God bless your home and your descendants. From now on you have another job apart from scoring goals.”

Mane and Aisha had a private wedding in Keur Massar, an area in the capital city of Dakar on January 7, six days before Senegal begin their AFCON defence.

The former Liverpool forward kept his relationship under wraps with reports claiming Aisha had been promised to Mane long ago.

“Honestly, I am happy [with] the fact the President has congratulated me just as much as, well, I would say not just my team-mates,” said Mane.

“I think that all the people have congratulated me and wished me [luck] so I am happy and I hope that it'll be okay.”

Aisha comes from Casamance area of Senegal, south of the Gambia and she is the daughter of an architect. Casamance borders Bambali, Mane’s hometown where he has built a hospital and recently a stadium.

Like Mane, she is a devout Muslim and is said to be God-fearing which is one of the main reasons the footballer was attracted to her.

Mane will now focus on the AFCON where Senegal will begin their campaign against the Gambia on January 15 and they are favourites to top a tough Group C that also has Cameroon and Guinea.
