Maroons FC extended their unbeaten league streak with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over KCCA FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium Lugogo.
Head coach Mohammed Senfuma attributed the win to teamwork and effective execution of counterattacks.
“We operated as a unified team today, showing respect for KCCA FC,” Senfuma shared in a post-match interview with Pulse Sports.
“We instructed the players to commit themselves fully to our game plan, which revolved around counterattacks, and I’m pleased it paid off.”
The tactician also emphasized the importance of utilizing speed, given their fast-paced players. “Amaku Tusubiira are all quick players, and I knew we had to exploit that advantage.”
Fred Amaku, the forward, secured a brace, while Mohammed Shaban scored a consolation goal for the home side.
Amaku initiated the scoring in the 23rd minute, capitalizing on a poorly saved effort by goalkeeper Juma Mutebi.
However, Mohammed Shaban leveled the match with a spectacular overhead kick in the 45th minute, sending both teams into halftime on equal footing.
Sergio Traguil’s squad earned a penalty in the 72nd minute, but Usama Arafat’s shot hit the woodwork and went out of play.
The visitors reclaimed the lead in the 80th minute when Amaku scored his first brace of the season and his third of the campaign, securing the win.
