Ademola Lookman's Atalanta suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Serie A champions Inter Milan at the San Siro.
Inter sent out a message to the rest of Serie A that they have no intention of relinquishing their title with a 4-0 dismantling of Atalanta at the San Siro.
Inter Milan made a blistering start, scoring twice within the first 15 minutes.
Marcus Thuram's whipped cross was deflected into the net by Berat Djimsiti, before Nicolo Barella doubled the lead with a stunning volley.
Atalanta pushed back, looking to find a way back into the game but Yann Sommer denied Davide Zappacosta and Mateo Retegui missed the rebound.
The second half continued in the same vein, Atalanta probed but it was clear they missed Ademola Lookman who was sitting on the bench after a failed move to PSG.
Inter made it 3-0 with their first real attack of the second half as Thuram poked home to put the game beyond Atalanta's reach.
Simeone Inzaghi's men were not done, and within eight minutes the Frenchman had another in near identical fashion, scoring his fourth goal of the season.
This 4-0 thrashing marks Inter's 13th consecutive unbeaten head-to-head against Atalanta, dating back to 2018.
It's also Atalanta's joint-heaviest league defeat since 2017.
