Ferran Torres Venom ends Atletico Madrid’s unbeaten run
Atletico Madrid’s unbeaten run came to an end at Camp Nou after losing to Barcelona in a very tense game.
Both teams did not do much in the first 20 minutes of the game, not until the 34th minute when Sevilla scored the first goal of the game after Suso tees up Rafa Mir inside the box and he curls the ball into the top right corner past Pepe Reina.
Villarreal started putting pressure on the Sevilla defence and got a goal which was cancelled by VAR. Nicolas Jackson received a delightful pass inside the box before slotting the ball past the goalkeeper but VAR ruled it out for offside and the referee blew the whistle for the end of the first half.
The second half started with Villarreal searching for an equaliser. Marko Dmitrovic was forced into action by Samuel Chukwueze after finding himself in some space and unleashed a shot to the bottom right corner but couldn't beat the keeper.
Their pressure paid off in the 57th minute as Pau Torres displayed good awareness in the six-yard box and found an unusual way to score by using his body to knock the ball behind the keeper.
