Tegisi has now scored three goals from two league matches this season following his brace against Shabana.
Shabana head coach Sammy Omollo, fondly known as 'Pamzo,' has showered praise on his lead striker Matthew Tegisi following a standout performance during their thrilling 2-2 draw with Ulinzi Stars at the Ulinzi Sports Complex last Sunday.
In a match that saw Shabana come from behind, Tegisi delivered two powerful headers, turning a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 advantage for his team. However, Glen Wafula's last-minute equalizer left Shabana’s traveling fans heartbroken, with some reacting by damaging parts of the stadium in frustration.
Despite the dramatic ending, Tegisi's contributions on the field were undeniable. His aggressive style of play on both ends was pivotal, and it was his hard work that won the crucial free-kick, which eventually led to his second goal. With those two strikes, Tegisi has now racked up three goals this season, having also scored in their 1-1 draw against Bidco United.

Football fraternity joins Harambee Stars forward in mourning mum's unfortunate passing
Avire, who played a crucial role in helping Harambee Stars beat Namibia 2-1 earlier this month, sadly lost his mother a few days ago.
Omollo was full of admiration for his striker's efforts, while also emphasizing that Tegisi's potential is far from fully realized. "Super. Two games, three goals. This is exactly what I want from him," Omollo said, reflecting on the forward's impact.
"He’s putting in the hard work during training, and these goals are giving him more confidence. He was disappointed by the draw, which shows he has the right mentality."
The former Tusker tactician was also impressed by how Tegisi’s aerial prowess gives Shabana flexibility in their gameplay.
"Mathew is so good in the air. He gives us the option to use different formations and styles, and you could see how he was winning all the balls in the air. I'm really trying to tap into his strengths to bring the best out of the team," Omollo added.

Five key Takeaways from FKF Premier league matchday 3, including Shabana's revival, and Sydney Lokale's brilliant start to life at AFC Leopards.
Tegisi, who joined Shabana midway through last season from Gusii FC and netted six goals in his debut campaign, has already shown an even greater hunger for goals this season. After the match, the striker expressed his determination to keep finding the back of the net.
"We didn’t expect to draw or lose at the last minute, but we have to accept the situation," Tegisi admitted. "I knew I’d score because that’s my mentality this season. I’m always confident I’ll find a way, and today was no different."
As Tegisi continues to grow in confidence and form, his role as a crucial player for Shabana is becoming more evident. If he maintains this level of performance, fans can expect plenty more goals from the prolific forward as the season unfolds.
