NSL: Shabana secure top flight promotion after 17-year wait with narrow victory over Migori in chaotic encounter
There were incidents of fan trouble at Gusii Stadium as the Glamour Boys clinched their place in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League for the first time since 2006
Shabana returned to the Premier League after being out of the competition since they were relegated in 2006.
The match against Migori Youth was expected to be tough, as the opponents also needed a win to boost their chances of getting promoted.
Migori are eyeing promotion through the playoffs as Murang’a Seal, who defeated Coastal Heroes at Mbaraki Stadium, ran with the other automatic ticket.
What remains now for Shabana is to secure the National Super League title. Their closest rivals in the title race are Seal, who have 64 points, just like Shabana, although the Murang’a county-based side has played one more game.
It will be a double delight if Shabana complete the sensational season by winning the league title.
So far, they have registered 20 victories from 28 games, while they have lost four and drawn in the remaining games.
