Shabana have confirmed the contract extension of midfielder Justin Omwando who was the team’s second highest scorer last season.

Shabana have confirmed that midfielder Justin Omwando has extended his contract at the club.

The young midfielder was one of the most outstanding players at the club last season as Tore Bobe struggled before eventually securing their safety.

Now, he has agreed to a new deal, believed to be six months, fending off interest from FKF Premier League rivals with coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo considering him a key component of his squad.

Omwando was Shabana’s second highest scorer last season after managing five goals, just two shy of Brian Michira, and the club has moved quickly to secure his future, at least for six months.

The midfielder has reportedly turned down interest from Bandari after assurances of playing time by the Glamour Boys.

“It was a difficult decision to make about my next steps, especially after such a successful first season in the league,” Omwando told Mozzartsport.

"However, the promise of playing time and my studies, which I'll complete in December, were two of the most important aspects that I had to consider, and they made it simpler for me to stay for another season.

“It's true Bandari were seriously after my services, and I was open to it, but Shabana were equally adamant in not letting me go, and we struck a deal that will see me stay for a year," added the midfielder, who is popularly known as Maasai.

After escaping relegation on the final day of the season, Pamzo has made it clear that Shabana will not be fighting to avoid the chop in 2024-25 and he wants a strong squad that will make their top flight stay comfortable.
