Both forwards are with the national side for a non-competitive tournament in Mauritius.

Kakamega Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula has claimed that Moses Shummah has the qualities to become a top striker like Michael Olunga.

Shummah had a memorable Harambee Stars debut when he scored in Kenya’s opening match against Pakistan in the Four-Nations Tournament on Wednesday.

"His qualities are similar to Olunga's," Shimanyula said. "Look at his height; he is also good at aerial balls; I think he has two or three goals from headers this season.

"I am happy that coach Engin Firat has seen the potential in him and can turn him into an Olunga-type striker in the future."

Shimanyula revealed how they scouted the forward and developed him into a dependable scorer for the Kakamega-based club.

"Shummah is a young striker, but he plays like he has been in this game for many years," he added.

"Funny enough, I plucked him from remote areas in Western Kenya, he has never played even in the National Super League, and we took him from deep in the village after my scouts spotted him.

"He has gone ahead to impress for my team [Homeboyz] and became a total nightmare for defenders in the league, he has so far scored five-plus goals in the league; he scored the opener against AFC Leopards in the FKF Mozzart Bet Cup victory; and he has been notching vital goals for us."

The outspoken football administrator added that Shummah can perform better at higher-level competitions.

"He has the height to play at the highest level; he can score goals when in a position to, he doesn’t think twice or hesitate to score when he gets the chance, and if you look at his positioning, he is very clever, he does it like he has been in this game for a long time. I am confident he will go far."

Given his impressive debut, eyes will be keen to see whether Firat will start him in the game against Mauritius on Sunday.
