Lobi Stars will be returning to Lagos after a hard-fought against City FC in the Naija Super 8.

NPFL club Lobi Stars and their fans are set for an immediate return to Lagos State after a hard-fought win in the Naija Super 8 Playoffs.

Lobi Stars survived a scare from NNL side City FC to book a spot in the playoffs following a 4-3 penalty shootout win over City in the North Central category.

Joseph Atule was the hero and came close to being the villain for the Pride of Benue in the game that ended 2-2 after normal time.

Lobi Stars survive City

In what was an interesting opening match of the day in the Eket Stadium in Akwa Ibom on Friday, Lobi Stars were forced to come from behind to force the game into a penalty shoot.

The Pride of Benue, Lobi Stars scored more goals in Eket than they managed in the Super 6.

City gifted the NPFL side the lead through an own goal before they bounced back to lead 2-1 heading into the final minutes.

However, superstar, Atule’s moment of brilliance saved Lobi some blushes as he equalised late on to ensure the game was decided via shootout.

In the resultant shootout, the Rivers United target missed his kick but was saved by his teammates, especially the goalkeeper who made two saves as the Pride of Benue picked up the win to qualify for the playoffs in Lagos.

Lobi’s return to Lagos

Just a few weeks after they participated in the NPFL Super 6 playoffs, Lobi Stars will return to the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan later next month.

Lobi Stars failed to win a single game at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

The Super 6 was a terrible outing for Lobi as they failed to win any of their five matches and managed just one goal scored.

The Pride of Benue will be hoping for a better outing this time and could face some of the teams who proved difficult for them in the Super 6.
